topped with raw fish, seafood and omelette style egg and a little bit of
wasabi. As the journey along because they traveled by foot, they set up small sushi bars along the road for the Daimyo to stop and fill up their Bento box. trimming a special type of tree that is housed in a pot. Bonsai trees remain
small because they are trimmed at the roots. Some bonsai trees grow to be very
old (Source A). Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. Ikebana originates from the custom of offering flowers to the Buddha. Ikebana and bonsai are examples of the strong influence of Buddhism, a religion that stresses the important of peace and beauty
(Source C). Today there are many formal schools that train people in the art of
ikebana (Source C). Japanese people take up the art of bonsai to create a mini
garden because they have limited space (Source A). Bonsai is an apart of the

Life in Shogunate Japan was all about loyalty and respect. The higher you were in
the hierarchy the more useful you were to society. The social hierarchy was a
government system which organised everyone’s status and place in society. The
shogun was a strict military general that liked everything his own way (Source
A). The life style of the people in medieval Japan was hard on everyone in
society, even the people who worked close to the shogun. The peasant farmers
had to pay the samurai in rice while the samurai had to work until death for
the daimyo and then went back home to their families to farm and look after
their children (Source A).
