In the early 2000s, the Enron scandal was a big corporate crime that seriously affected American business and how accounting was done. It wasn't just one bad thing that happened, but a complicated situation of lies and corruption.

Enron hid debts and boosted profits through complicated partnerships, fooling investors and inflating stock prices. The executives manipulated the stock prices by selling shares for a profit while hiding the true financial situation. Arthur Andersen, Enron's auditor, ignored signs of fraud and neglected their accounting duties.

Enron's problems came to light when employees and journalists exposed accounting issues. In 2001, Enron went bankrupt, causing big losses for investors and employees. Some executives, like Lay and Skilling, were found guilty of wrongdoing.

I wish there was more transparency from the companies by implementing stricter rules for financial reports so all investors know exactly what is going on with their money. If investors knew what was happening they would have stopped investing much earlier.

Also, there should be a law that protects workers who report the fraudulent things that companies do without being afraid.

Finally, I wish that there was regularly reviews to keep pace with business practices and all the financial instruments so the law evolves.
