Learned:
1. My SLP will focus on more than just HR.
2. Educational Equity is giving the students what they need to be successful and not everyone getting the same thing. Not a cookie cutter situation.
3. Start developing genuine relationships NOW so it becomes second nature by the time you begin to lead a building.

Opinions:
1. I think that hearing everyone's SLP topics was very beneficial because this allowed me to add more to my own SLP.
2. I learned that I was not the only one second guessing myself with components of my SLP. Having the safe place to share was very good.

Question:
1. Do we have a digital story example for this SLP up on Canvas already?

I actually find this class to be very interesting, so can not say three things. I did find the video to be a great eye opener on equity. The wording used by certain individuals pulled me in. The opportunity must be there for students to succeed. I learned I have thoughts that seem to fit when dealing with my SLP.

-From our reading, "The Truth about Employee Engagement," I saw how leaders often have to make difficult decisions in a short amount of time. An effective leader makes the decision that is in everyone's best interest.

3 things I learned / found interesting:
1. I agreed with the idea from the video that students should be in the conversation about what they need to be successful. What's working, and what isn't? Their input is important!
2. Equity is not just about race.. it applies to gender, ability levels, and socioeconomic status.
3. Running a school in the "optimum" category is difficult, especially in rural districts with limited resources, but that is the goal for all administrators.
Opinion: The private sector offers valuable lessons about efficiency and leadership that schools would do well to implement.
