Austin-Kidd Farm

Austin-Kidd Farm was among the inaugural farms to collaborate with the current iteration of Mecklenburg County 4-H. The farm played an essential role in providing eggs for our embryology program during its first two years. This invaluable support has resulted in significant growth, leading to a waitlist for the program for the first time in its current iteration. Presently, Danie Austin, the owner of Austin-Kidd Farm, serves on the county 4-H advisory board, where he contributes to the exploration of innovative strategies for the continued expansion of 4-H.

McLawland Farms LLC is one of the newest contributors to the embryology program in Mecklenburg County. Additionally, the organization has made significant contributions in various other capacities. They participated as a volunteer in the county's inaugural County Activity Day and provided a valuable opportunity for one of our 4-H members to learn about animal care through hands-on experience. As the 4-H program continues to expand within our county, we anticipate that further opportunities will arise. McLawland Farms LLC is poised to play a crucial role in supporting our community's development.

Circle T Ranch has emerged as one of our newest partners in the 4-H program. This year, they have significantly contributed by donating eggs for our embryology program, as some of our previous partners were unable to provide assistance. Despite being a recent addition to our partnership, there exists substantial potential for further collaboration that could enhance the growth of 4-H within our county.

Joni McPhetridge of Franklinton, NC is a strong advocate for agriculture in Franklin County. She and her family own McPhetridge Family Farms, where they grow elderberries, raise livestock, and produce value-added goods. On top of that, she founded Sowing Seeds NC, a non-profit food pantry dedicated to serving the community and addressing food insecurity through on-site and mobile food distribution . Recently, Sowing Seeds NC has begun recruiting farm partners around the county to supply fresh, local food to the pantry. Overall, Joni herself is deeply rooted in agriculture, is committed to serving the community, and works to support other small farms.
