My book is about different peoples rights. This book is set around the 1960's and 2009. There is a group of students at the beginning that does a lot of sit-ins in restaurants because since they are black the staff would not serve them. At one point they got arrested and they got beaten down, but they never fought back because they didn't think that fighting back with violence was the right thing to do.
