If-Then Adventure Stories - Content Framing by Heather Sanders

Think about how you could integrate the If-Then Adventure Stories lesson into your curriculum. For example, if I am a biology teacher, I might require that the setting be inside an animal cell, and I could require that the parts of the cell be a part of the story. First and foremost, consider your learning targets, but be creative!

Based on the answers they choose, they either continue getting more practice problems with fun incentives, or remediation notes/videos if they miss the question.

There are sooo many ways that this could be used. What first comes to mind is using this with "The Cask of Amontillado" as an introduction. For example, they would play through as the main character and then as they read through the actual text, they will have more connections that they will be able to make to the text.

I would use this to create a timeline type study guide. For example, the students recieve the beginning date/event and have a choice as to "what comes next?" If they get it correct it will tell them about the event and what occured and takes them to the next "what comes next?" if it is wrong it will remind them of the correct answer and why, then take them back to the previous slide to select the correct event.

This was a tough one for me to figure out. I can support the writing goals by having them create a story for the text that we sing about. I may also be able to use it when teaching the process to finding a key signature. This is by far the hardest concept for my kids to grasp.

I love using this for reviewing the plot diagram and story structure. I also see where students could use a dummy intro and conclusion and "choose their own adventure" for writing a body paragraph. Each could write a body paragraph and add on an additional to someone else with the same conclusion almost like when you do the "around the world" paragraph.
