Identify the stain.
2. Match stain to chemical that will break it down (i.e., peroxide for blood, The Amazing Whip-It for grass and food, alcohol for ink and marker, bleach for non-blood bio stains).
3. Be sure to not wash bleach treatments with ammonia treatments.
4. Figure out if you need a physical component as well (hint: cream cheese requires scrubbing).
5. After treating, wash and check for stain removal PRIOR to drying, otherwise the heat will set the stain.
*I'm also good at making my own laundry detergent, though my husband insists we use Tide Coral Blast.
**My life is boring.

Not one of my favorite activities, but it seems so simple that I couldn't justify paying someone else to do it.
To paint a room well, 90% of the work occurs before the painting.
1. Clean the walls.
2. Tape the "boundaries".
3. Drop cloths EVERYWHERE.
4. NOW you may begin to paint.
5. Don't overload your roller. It'll leave marks.
6. Paint the edges first with a brush. Then use the roller on the big parts.
7. Take your time.
Self taught. Pretty easy to see how you messed up.

Max - Voluminous Jazz Knowledge (since we're in bragging mode)

I'd like to think that I am quite the jazz aficionado. How did I get to be this way? Well, let me explain:
1. Loved rap in my HS days.
2. Got into locating rap samples.
3. Discovered many were from old jazz songs.
4. Got into buying lots of jazz CDs at super cheap prices on BMG.
5. Looked at the personnel on album recordings and started looking into sidemen.
6. Taught myself about musicians and players that way.
7. Bought some jazz books and read them.
8. Took a History of Jazz course my freshman year at Syracuse University taught by Gap Mangione (Chuck Mangione's brother).
9. Worked as a jazz DJ at the local college NPR station all throughout college.
10. Befriended two guys who have enormous jazz record collections and started our "Jazz Dorks" club where we make mixes (the kids these days would just call them playlists).

Now, how would I teach this? Well, find something that you're passionate about (keep in mind that I only got into jazz because I liked jazzy rap beats) and start delving and digging. It's kind of like going down a YouTube rabbit hole. This would be a nice way to potentially introduce research, as in pursuing something that is of interest to you where you could see yourself getting lost in the exploration for hours at a time.
