The style of this book is very basic as the boy generally is alone in this book when on the island he wears the basic shorts and tee when he goes to the forest. The time of day effects what he wears for example at night he puts on his coat.

The story tells a boy who with little to no friends grows very attached to the island. The island not only helps him but others as well to see the true beauty of nature. The conflict in this book is more or less man vs. man for Wil must stop them from destroying these lands, "at last even the sound was gone, everything was still". It definitely shows the struggle of teens trying to make friends in a far and new town. This book really connects to the reader in an almost humorist way, explaining topics everyone faces every day.
