Explanation of Strengths

Like I previously stated, the strengths are: limited power, education and equality among states. The national government having limited power is good because it controls them from become too powerful. The Articles of Confederation requiring public education is good because it ensures that the future citizens/officials are of knowledge. Lastly, each state having the same amount of votes is good because it's fair. When each state has equal amount of votes, no state can complain one has more (votes) than them.

Explanation of Weaknesses

Like I already stated, the weaknesses are: no national court system, no leadership, and states could refuse congress' requests. Having no national court system is bad because if there's a dillema between states, there'd be no way to resolve it. States being able to refuse congress' requests is bad because when congress asks for soldiers/money and they really need it, states can say no and if they all said no the country would dissolve. Lastly, the new found nation having no leadership is bad because when they're trying to make allies/treaties they have no one to represent them or make the critical decisions.

Summary of the Articles of Confederation's Failure

As you know by now, the Articles of Confederation written by a group selected by the Second Continental Congress failed. This document which was supposed to help set up the government/the nation had so many weaknesses. These weaknesses included having only one branch of government, states being able to refuse congress' requests, having no national court system, not having leadership (a president), and of course there's more too but those are the ones that really stuck out. This constitution failed because it didn't meet everyone's hopes for their new free nation. Even some of the strengths were weaknesses. For instance, having an equal amount of votes per state was good because it shows equality but larger states were still upset about that, they believed they should have more votes than smaller states. Also some states didn't even really care about the Articles, while it was being ratified all Maryland cared about was the Western land; Maryland wouldn't ratify the Articles until they knew the status of the Western land. All these things show that the Articles of Confederation would never really work.
