S- Michael is impulsive with his speech and rarely thinks before he speaks. This leads to him seeming immature and mentally younger than he actually is
T-Michael tries to put on a brave face but is severely depressed by his father's death which he only openly shows to Maggie, his late father's girlfriend. The symptoms of Michael's emotions and actions are reminiscent of a personality disorder.
E- Michael has become introverted and is having an effect on his life, most notably with his girlfriend Rachel. He has constantly been trying to stay away from her not because he hates her but because he doesn't feel like being with her, which is taking a toll on his relationship with her
A- Michael's actions are directly evidence of a personality disorder. Introverted, emotionally unstable especially when his father is mentioned. Before his father's death he was very calm and socially smart but after his father died he became socially awkward and unsure of what to say. Another piece of evidence for his compulsiveness. Specifically when he was told his mother was going to attempt to take custody he ran out into a storm at night as if he thought he could run away from it.

S- Maggie is careful with her speech, making sure to say things that will not severely upset Michael to the best of her ability. While she also became introverted after Michael's father's death, she has become soft, relatively speaking. She has very little willpower unless it comes to helping Michael. While Michael has become easily upset with anger or depression, Maggie has become your stereotypical depressed person. Quiet, introverted, and breaking out into tears at random times.
T- The book is in first person of Michael so not much is shown about Maggie's or anybody else's internal thoughts, and as the reader one is forced to analyze their behavior to see what may be going on. Maggie is naturally a mother figure. She is always worrying for Michael's well being to the extent or more than her own.
E- Maggie is perhaps the most important figure for Michael. She acts as his anchor and keeps him grounded for the most part to the best of her ability while trying to keep herself grounded as well. The end result is her occasionally being overwhelmed and crying but keeps pressing on because she feels it is the right thing to do.
A- Maggie attempts to keep the whole situation under control and keeping Michael from getting taken away by Julia, Michael's biological mother, in a calm and collected manner. She called Michael's late father's friend Chuck who is a lawyer to help, which he does.

S- Rachel is Michael's girlfriend so she cares for Michael during this time. However she was narcissistic prior to Michael's father's death so it can be assumed this is not her normal personality. However when she is caring she does seem to try to assist Michael although Michael does seem to be ignoring her because he doesn't want to be with anyone. She speaks in concerned tones but strong ones. She never stops trying to care for Michael even if he is constantly pushing her off.
T- Rachel seems to care extra for Michael just because of his father's death, as if she wouldn't care as much if everything was normal. Evidence for this is that she was attempting to get Michael to buy a car with his money he was saving for college
E-Even if Michael doesn't go out with Rachel because he is struggling with the death of his father, Michael still feels better after she calls because it lets him know there is still good in the world in her form.
A-Rachel constantly attempts to get Michael to go out with her or their friends just to get him moving, which Michael always denies. However she keeps trying in hopes he will at some point say yes.

S-Chuck while obviously caring for Michael and Maggie and being a friend of Michael's late father himself, he seems to try to distance himself. Attempting to be a lawyer or a consultant rather than a friend in the way he speaks. He is careful to attempt to be seriously emotionally unaffected.
T- Chuck is affected by Michael's father's death but doesn't want to show it. Chuck owes his entire carrier which Chuck feels is his obligation.
E- By Chuck being the lawyer who personally knew Michael's father, Michael, and Maggie, so it is more comfortable for them to have Chuck as their lawyer for the formalities instead of a stranger.
A- Chuck is doing this mainly over his debt to Michael's father. He put Chuck through law school which allowed Chuck to be involved in the death other than just a friend. It allowed him to help legally as a representative of the family

Personality Disorder defined by mentalhealthamerica.net is "...[to] tend to be inflexible, rigid, and unable to respond to the changes and demands of life. Although they feel that their behavior patterns are “normal” or “right,” people with personality disorders tend to have a narrow view of the world and find it difficult to participate in social activities." It is obvious in Michael's actions as he is becoming affected by it. While people think it is one constant, there are three kinds of personality disorders known as "clusters". Michael exhibits symptoms from Cluster B which has "Dramatic, emotional or erratic behavior". The definitive cause of personality disorder is unknown, although it is suspected to have something to do with young age trauma and genetics. Within Cluster B there is what is known as BPD, or Borderline Personality Disorder. It is associated with the following:

Impulsive and risky behavior, such as having unsafe sex, gambling or binge eating

Unstable or fragile self-image

Unstable and intense relationships

Up and down moods, often as a reaction to interpersonal stress

Suicidal behavior or threats of self-injury

Intense fear of being alone or abandoned

Ongoing feelings of emptiness

Frequent, intense displays of anger

Stress-related paranoia that comes and goes

Almost all of which are shown by Michael
