Which celebration?
  • I will present Independence Day, also called Fourth of July.

When and where do we celebrate? 
  • We celebrate Independence Day on the fourth of July in America.

History of the celebration?/ Why do we celebrate? 
  • It is one of America's most important holidays.
  • Independence Day marks America's independence from Britain.
  • On the fourth of July in 1776, the United States Declaration of Independence was accepted. That meant that Britain's former colonies in America became independent.

How do we celebrate? / What are the traditions?
  • Today, there are celebrations all over America on the fourth of July.
  • There are parades where lots of people are dressed in 18th century uniforms and in the evenings there are many fireworks. It is a tradition to play patriotic songs during the fireworks, for example the national anthem. 
  • People also celebrate with picnics and concerts.
  • It is also a tradition to raise the flag of the USA and many things are decorated in the colors red, white and blue.
