One the one hand the children make their own money and they buy what they want . For example they earn and save money from their work and kids buy by the money things that they wanted for a long time. 
In addition, it teaches responsibility ,in other words their work binds  them to be responsible for instance the children must to get on time and do their task on the best way. 
On the other hand there are people who agent it for the reason that the children can’t hang out with friends and the children don’t have time to have fun. I think it is wrong because the children choose if to work and choose which job they want. So if they don’t want to be busy or have time for them ,they don’t must to work in the summer. 
In my opinion work in the summer vacation it’s matter of choice . It’s a really good idea for kids who are getting boring in the summer vacation

In addition, you can make your own money and you can buy whatever you want, without wasting your parents' money.
Also, the summer jobs keep you busy and give you something to do during the summer vacation instead of just lying on the sofa and being lazy. 
To sum up, in my opinion students should work in the summer vacation and i think that work during the summer vacation should be complusory.
