-A work of literary art should be evaluated on its aesthetics; not ethics. Because when ethics is the key to evaluating literature, good literary works that are considered "immoral" will be ignored, discredited.
-Moral issues depicted in some literature works are "for the most part remote from ethical concerns" or obsolete e.g. interracial marriage in Othello is considered "unnatural" but today, interracial marriages are not something that is frowned upon.
-Literature represents imaginative probabilities; not actual realities.
-Research has not shown that altruistic personality is enhanced by higher education and culture.
