Luz Long (Germany) and Jesse Owens (USA) were competing in the Berlin 1936 Olympics and were doing the long jump. Jesse Owens got his first two jumps disqualified and Luz Long gave him a tip, which helped him qualify for the final. Jesse Owens went on to win the gold medal and a friendship was created.

The two athletes took turns helping each other finish the race. Even though they didn't qualify for the final, they both got a spot in the final for their sportsmanship.
