How do birds fly?
Obviously they need feathers, but there's a whole lot more to it. for a bird to fly it must first lift its wing, as they do this they propel themselves up, but whats really cool is that when they flap downwards there wings close, but when they flap up they expand so the wind and flow through them.

How do birds fly
birds have wings which help it
to fly. Birds wings have feathers and strong muscles attached to them with the help of their strong
arm and chest muscles, birds flap
their wings and fly. The bodies of
birds are very light which help them
to fly easily. This is because the bones of birds are thin, light and hallow. The shape of a birds body is like an airplane. In order to turn while flying a bird use its tail. To stop, the bird spreads out its wings and stretches out its feet. This creates a drag which helps it to stop .

How Birds Fly

So the shape of the wing and the ability to move it through the air are the two things needed for bird and plane flight. Birds use their strong breast muscles to flap their wings and give them the thrust to move throught the air and fly. In a way, birds use a swimming motion to get the lift needed to fly.

https://youtu.be/1kztP_XTEPk

Almost every part of a birds anatomy is evolved in some part to enhance flight. Birds must be lightweight to fly, so have evolved very lightweight hollow bones. The structure of their bones resembles honeycomb, making them very strong but also very light. For example , frigate birds have a wingspan over two metres but the skeleton weights 113g. Birds also have fewer organs and no teeth.

Birds can take flight because of the special shape of their wings.Bird wings are shaped so that the distance from the front to the back over the top of the wings is greater than the distance under the wing .If a bird is moving fast enough, the force from the pressure difference, which is called the lift force, equals or exceeds the weight of the bird and the bird is able to fly. When air flows over the airfoil, the air flows faster over the top of the wing and slower under the wing. The pressure difference causes upward force called lift, which enables the bird to fly. Also, when looking at the amount of lift a pair of wings can produce a few factors such as wing size, air speed, air density, and the angle of wings. With those factors, act come into place which is called the angle of wings.Angle of attack,is the angle between the wing and direction of the oncoming wing.

When birds fly, air flows over and under the wings. In a side view of a wing, the wing is thicker in the front and tapers off towards the back; similar to an airplane wing. We call this shape an Air Foil. As the birds wing takes flight, air on the top part flows quickly, gliding across the wing in a narrow stream of air. On the bottom part of the wing, the air moves slower, and wider than the top. However, the air on top of the wing pushes less than the air on the bottom, this giving the wing the upward push. This is called Lift. In order for the bird to glide faster, the bird will flap its wings in a circular motion and also going forward. This is called Thrust. Birds flying is quite interesting, but they cannot only rely on air, they must use their strong muscles and large lungs. Luckily their body is shaped just ride to glide through the air.

birds has evolved in some part to enhance flight. Birds must be lightweight to fly, so have evolved very lightweight hollow bones. back of the wing. Because the top of the wing is curved, the distance from the front of the wing to the back of the wing is shorter for air passing under the wing. Air passing over the wing top moves more quickly than air under the bottom. The fast-moving air atop the wing creates less pressure than air underneath the wing. The higher air pressure under the wing lifts the bird upward. The higher body temperature is enabled through the insulating properties of feathers, and in some species, a layer of fat.Birds have highly efficient respiratory and circulatory systems which keep their tissues well supplied with oxygen and nutrients, supporting a high metabolic rate. Bird lungs are full of elastic air sacs that help to dissipate heat and reduce the density of their bodies. The eyesight of birds is said to be the best of all vertebrates. Excellent eyesight and coordination helps birds to fly
