In the Progressive Era, there were many issues. A writer, named Upton Sinclair who revealed the many unsanitary conditions of the meat-packing industry, not only was this an issue for the peoples' health and well-being, it was an issue for the company. Multiple Companies were forced to either terminate these unhygienic constraints, or to stop producing goods altogether. On top of the unsanitary conditions, it was later revealed that corporations were using harmful chemicals, with serious impact on health and safety issues in the urbanized regions. Along with unsanitary conditions, there was no healthcare system involved with education, making the lives of children more endangered.

Reformers

There were many people attempting to better the health and safety during the Progressive Era. Some of these reformers include; Samuel Thomson, Lillian Wald, and Alice Hamilton. Samuel Thomson, a person strongly supporting the protests against better health and safety, made healthier medicine, and made all of his products environment friendly to compete with the unsanitary and unhealthy businesses. Lillian Wald, was a woman strongly against ill patients needing to travel to hospitals, so she invented the process of taking nurses to patient homes. Lastly, Alice Hamilton taught factory workers how to keep their workplaces sanitary and safe.

After all of the issues related to health and safety in the Progressive Era, there was one solution. The Pure Food and Drug Act. This act was made after the government officials were convinced after the protests that companies were really using unsanitary and not safe things in their products. The Pure Food and Drug Act prohibited all sale of misbranded or adulterated food. Misbranded and adulterated food included companies that hid ingredients that were either bad quality, bad for the environment or that could be seriously unhealthy.

Something that occurred both in the past and current time was violating laws and rules that were put in place by the government, such as the Pure Food and Drug Act. Many companies were caught in both generations, and got away with it. Another connection was healthcare, in the past there was only healthcare for extremely wealthy people. Now, healthcare is not available to poor people who can't afford it, just like in the Progressive Era

The Pure Food and Drug Act was active during both time periods, to prohibit sale of misbranded or adulterated food, as I said before, which was put in place a long time ago, but is still used to this day. Many people are still against companies that use unhealthy and non-environment friendly products.

In both of the solutions in both time periods, former and current, the solution was always put in place to better the way of living, and was altered to better the lives of citizens and the country as a whole. For example in the Progressive Era the Pure Food and Drug Act was in place to improve the health of the American citizens and now, it's still the same.

Just like the Progressive Era, Companies are getting lawsuits against them. One specific company, Koi CBD LLC was caught using illegal substances drugs in their products, and once against was caught but left unpunished. Furthermore, many farm companies were caught putting immoderate amounts of pesticide on their crops, making it a health and safety issues. On top of the lawsuits, Healthcare is also barely available. 1 in 4 adults have problems paying for care in their household. More than 100 million americans can't afford healthcare as well. This is a healthcare issue, because about a 1/4 of adults in the United States population can't afford proper healthcare, leaving them helpless in times that they need government aid or assist.

Reformers

A reformer in the present time that is trying to better the health and safety of the citizens of the USA is the FDA. THe FDA stands for the Food and Drug Administration. This corporation is responsible for the public health of citizens in the US, and was made to ensure the safety and health of common people, so they don't have to pay extra for healthcare and other necessities caused by food with bad handling. Another reformer is the HRA, which is the Health Reformers Academy. They train professionals to make changes in the future to improve the health and safety of the common people. Lastly the Pure Food and Drug Act, is still in place to prohibit sale of misbranded and/or adulterated food.

Although, healthcare is getting better, it still improvable. To help, the Health Reformer Academy is training professionals to help the country and work on healthcare policies to make them the best for everyone, poor or rich, in need of help or not.
