Today the museum Memorial ACTe was very impressive. It made me to realize once again how extremely cruel people can be towards each other. Almost unbelievable! I have read and of course heard of slavery, but the museum was most effective, one of the best I have ever been to. A touching experience! The most interactive museum I have ever visited. I learnt so much about the history of Guadeloupe and its people. It is a must to read more when i get home! I have visited in Africa before and now many things connected in my mind. Today it came to my mind that it is crucially important to tell about these things to the becoming generations about these things to prevent similar things to happen again.

Today was completely different day compared to yesterday. I am maybe a little bit confused, sad and impressed at the same time. The visit to the museum was quite touching because of its impressive content: the transatlantic human cargo which was traded against a variety of colonial things, "live free or die", slave garden and to the opposite of the rich heritage of music. I also became aware of the effect of art. It can be spectacular, touching, disgusting and beautiful.

The visit to the museum Memorial ACTe was very impressive. And it provoked many thoughts. It is strange that people living in the same globe can hurt and dominate each other in such a horrible way. The words are not enough to tell! The rest of the day changed the atmosphere. Good company and we all together enjoying the culture, the lovely atmosphere and sharing a lovely meal.

Another amazing day.
I was dreading the visit to the slavery museum a bit because I knew it would show a very dark side of human nature. Which it did. Then again, the museum is very well made, there is a lot to learn from all different angles. After I had finished my round I immediately felt like restarting.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Today we had totally different experience than yesterday on the beach. We were visiting at the museum of Memorial ACTE. We heard about Guadeloupe’s history which made me think about terrible things that slavery has made in history of mankind. Although I’ve heard about slavery before at school, but the museum with pictures, music, short movies and Creole garden gave more effective the feeling about the life it might have been someday. In the end of the exhibition there was hope and that gave me an impression of wonderful culture of Guadeloupe.

After museum we had very nice lunch at local café in Point-a-Pitre. It was again really good and refreshing discussion with each other.

The Memorial ACTe was absolutely fascinating for me. Since I am a music teacher and because I love afro-carribean music and latin music I have always been interested in the research of Africanisms and Creolization: so I am very glad, that I had the opportunity to visit this museum: It conveys lots of ethnical, historical and cultural aspects in such captivating ways, for example by exposing the contemporary pieces of art among the audiovisual documents, that treat the history of the slavery in the Caribbean.
After that our lunch at Dolmare was very good. All the dishes were delicious and I had a very good time with the course mates, Rita and Michel. We had so much fun – but never the less inspiring conversations about how we live and work in our different countries as well.

Where should I begin the story of today? Our world is so big and yet so small. We are all so different but we have so much in common. Our histories are different but somehow they are connected. It makes me wonder how can such a small number of people do so much harm to millions of other people? How is it possible? Listening to the history of slavery made me wonder is Europe the worst continent of all? I have such mixed feelings. I am proud to be European, Croat, Slavonian. But I am also ashamed of being the same when I hear all the bad things Europeans did throughout history… I will have to process everything in my head because now my mind is overwhelmed.

The museum itself is amazing. It is a place everyone should visit and spend hours there listening, reading, thinking. I wish I had more time today. This was an amazing experience.

The word of the day: IMAGINE…
