A. What is the problem and what are the root causes to the problem?

In March 2011 a war broke out in Syria that caused terrorists to raid the land. The effect of this is tens of thousands of people ran away from Syria and started to migrate away from Syria. By now over 12 million people have been forced to leave Syria or been killed, and more to come. All this is still happening in 2019. Refugees are now in places such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq. The main root cause is protesters were protesting and the Assad government ignored them. The protesters were mad about that so they decided to be armed with weapons and threatened the whole country. And now there are thousands of people in refugee camps. It is very hard for them to survive with conditions such as, barely enough food and water for everyone, and a winter storm hit turkey recently and that made it even worse for them. They walk and walk and walk and keep on walking. So in conclusion the problem is that, many people are dying from this war and the war sparked this whole thing.

B. How has the problem affected the community directly?

The community of Syria has been deeply affected because the population in Syria is sincerely decreasing with more people leaving and getting killed. The U.S. is getting involved and sending troops there to go fight with the protesters. It is also dragging a lot of attention towards Syria and that is good in some ways but not good in other ways. The buildings and companies around there are getting demolished or discontinued because of this crisis. In conclusion the community has fallen apart and most of Syria is just an abandoned bombed land.

C. Why should the rest of the world be concerned about this issue

We should worry about this event even though we are far from Syria and Asia. This is causing a lot of deaths and then more people want to join the terrorists because they gain power but we shouldn't let that happen. Also Syria is apart of Asia and the terrorists could grow and grow and take over Asia bit by bit. Then Asia would be taken over and we would have a bunch of new refugees here in the US and that would be hard. Syria could also get abandoned and it would just be the terrorists land. This is also having our population of the world go down rapidly if this continues for years and years. In conclusion the group of rebels could grow and we don't want that to happen.

D. What is currently being done to address this problem?

A lot of people are seeing this and taking action by being volunteers to spend time with the refugees and make them happier. There is a foundation called The Red Cross. People give food to the red cross and the actual foundation collects it and donates it. You can also participate in different food drives to give them enough food and water and good meals. People also go and clean up the camps and spend time with refugees. Also a lot of bilingual people go there and translate what they are trying to say. These might not sound too helpful but when people are starving and tired and walking and walking for years it is very very helpful for them. Think of it as if you were in there shoes walking hundreds of miles on the regular and getting way less food than we do and getting sick and not knowing what to do. They don’t have any professional doctors there and if someone got a bad cold they could easily die from it. In conclusion you should help by maybe donating to stop this whole crisis.

It’s now January 2019, it’s been 7 years and 11 months. I am just lucky to survive for this long. I have been to over 20 different refugee camps and they are all the same with old scrappy tents and soup here and there. But it is better than walking and walking. I'm writing this at 6 o'clock and were at a camp right now in a tent with two other people. Dinner is about to be served and we have a few more minutes until they are supposed to hand out soup. Sometimes they don't if they don’t have enough for everyone. Last night they had enough and it was good to have something to eat. I made this friend yesterday and we played with this ball we found yesterday. His tent is across from mine. Dinner is coming around got to go. Bye.
