That's what I was expecting. Well Scratch looks quite easy to develop simple games at some point (image differences or word searches for vocabulary). I have tryied Unity but the learnig curve is quite long. Was hopping to do something with the google translator to read questions and kind of charatecter play to develop dialogs (for the language school programe). As for the sports teaching there are already some good games like FIFA, virtual tennis etc etc etc.

To create a digital tool we can use "Bloxels". It even exist a education mode; pupils are creating their figures, levels and quests. There is also RPG Maker, were the children can create a real world with their stories and ideas.

I have only done a few games with scratch, they are interesting and fun but I think they only provide an orientation in the way of thinking of the students. It is good for students of little age and a fun for older students but truth programming is much more abstract and more difficult. In the ages of my students (14-16) in which I move, I usually choose the latter.

I use Scratch and Code.org as game design tools. I use Code.org as an introduction to computational thinking which then leads to coding in Scratch. Code.org allows children to become familiar with the concept of block based programming. Once we've completed a Course in code.org we progress onto Scratch. I love both these programmes as they are extremely visual, engaging and allow the children to 'tinker' with their code. They also facilitate working collaboratively. The results are immediate. Children can progress at their own pace.
The children adore using these programmes and being able to express themselves through a different medium.

Although I use a lot of games in my classroom I have never designed digital games in class and I don't think I'll have the time and the resources to do it in the near future. My subject curriculum is quite overloaded as it is, so we can only design simple physical or hand-made cames, which ,for me are as beneficial, as the digital ones. We've created a board game with my students and a sports game and we really had fun and collaboration doing it.
To be honest, I don't think every teacher should create a digital game with their students and I don't beleive is necessary to do it. After all, designing a non-digital game has the same, if not more benefits for the students - especially the you

We've used different tools during our eTwinning projects. For example, our students are designing now Escape rooms. They use Thinglink . To design their challenge, they can use some tools to generate fake receipts, fake newspaper pages, headstones, fake social posts, etc. to hide their information.

Dependently on my objectives

In my project we tried to apply some games in relation with scratch, but my students are more familiar with as , so much better than me , better to say they are professional , as well we applied the language of coding

However in my class I use mostly the crosswords , puzzle , … games which they don’t take too much time of my lessons , so to be able to finish my lessons and to attain my objectives also we need to access to computer class which most of the time are not free

I use with my students many tools like Padlet ( for the collaborative writing and the communication between all the members in the activity), also i use the Kahoot ( for learning taskes and also for quizzes before learning and after learning as an evaluation test ), also i use the mentimeter ( for brainstorming and collecting maximum of information about such lesson or notion that the students will learn it ), also i use the ebooks ( to write to produce and to express their creativity in the conception and the design of such digital and electronic books created by the students), the movie maker ( to design a video ) , ... So many others tools that i used them with my students also they used them in their houses and in the class too ! the main objectif is to learn and to improve ICT and language skills .

I have no experience with game design tools. I've seen some of my students working with differents tools for E-twinning project or my son for his school projects, but not for games. I think it's too difficult. I've tried to design something, a story, with my students using Scratch, but we didn't make it. It took whole lesson and gave zero points.

My students used lots of different software in order to design stories and games. Many of them were web2 that now belongs to history.... One of the programs we used in the past and still exists nowadays is "sploder" (http://www.sploder.com/) for games. Minecraft: It is possible to make physical changes to a randomly created world and adjust the environment to the targeted topic/subject/goal.

Wordwall: Nice tool to create vocabulary games. Games can be played individually by students, in groups, or be teacher-led.

I have a lot of experience in creating quizzes and games for my students. I share these games with all my colleagues in Croatia.
They are on the website of my class BRODARIČKI ŠKOLARCI, and on the Croatian Teacher's Portal ŠKOLSKI PORTAL.
I like the app to embed images, videos, and sound and have feedback for students.
I know many application for games and quizzes but in this moment my favorite aplications for students are Bookwidgets and Genialy.

The experience I have had is in the various tools that have been presented to me in Moocs that I have accomplished, but that I have not yet been able to put into practice.
I use Padlet in my training, I have used Quizzs, but without success, because not all students had computers with access to the net and it was not possible.
I have tried to try the scratch, but I am still with a lot of questions about its operation. I also confess that I'm still looking for how I can use game design in my Physical Education classes.

I'm trying to become familiar with genial.ly, it is an amazing tool that provides you with fantastic templates for much more than presentations. There's a section devoted to gamification where you can find impressive templates for click-to-action presentations, quizzes, board games (sequence make, guess who?, trivials...) and breakouts.
It is quite easy to use and it can be adapted to any type of content. I would recommend the "escape games".
The games included in these templates allow some challenge with the students, as well as competition and cooperation in a non-threatening environment. Students have to follow certain rules and there's interaction and feedback, which is what I look for in a game design tool.

I've started using Kahoot some years ago. It is an online tool to create quizzes in a game form and I think it is a great way of involving my students in the creation of language questionnaires. They can play with questions about any topic they want and they can also challenge their classmates. It implies the use of mobile phone which becomes a remote to answer each questions and any answer get a score (In case students are not allowed to use their mobiles at school, I've replaced them with answer cards ).

Even in games created with my students the same requirements as for online games are respected: rules, scores, verification methods.

It's an online game about the immune system.
We have studied the structure, the graphic interface, the organization. By playing immunequest, we were able to assess the degree of reliability of a game for the information it provides and for more information that can be given to a game; we have a very precise idea of how important it is to establish a priori what is the purpose we want to achieve in order to create an appropriate learning game.

When it comes to games I use whatever it comes handy to me and also I take ideas from all sorts of places: teachers' meetings, Internet, courses, teachers' activities. Everything that I can use in class becomes interesting. I have no special design tool for my games, the appropriate one.

I have had a look at Scratch earlier, but I haven't used it yet with my pupils. We used a coding game (I don't remember the name of it) when the ICT mentor visited our school and taught the class to code a bit.
I would like to find a programme that would concentrate more on language and the pupils would use less time in creating other things (because I'm a language teacher). Or we could cooperate together with a class teacher and that way get more time to do different things with a programme.

Here is one of the activities I made with pupils, but also with the other project partners in Padlet. Students made fractals of materials from the original reality. They photographed them. I treated the photos, and then I got to Padlet one by one and so I designed the carpet. The students were delighted. Everyone wished to do the same.

To be fair, I cannot verify if I have replied to this earlier, so I might contradict what I have written before...
I would love to be able to use game design tools, however very often it is an aspect of time and effort in relation to the result. It's a great idea to put much effort into the preparation of one lesson, but in reality I am not teaching only 1 lesson per week, but over 20... so any design tool should be easy to use without any big need for getting to know it. And here is where reality hits - the good things take time, and also time to prepare. This is also where collaboration between colleagues becomes an interesting aspect, as we can divide the workload between many, instead of one person doing everything. Very often, the game design tools I use are my mind and my hands, as I craft relatively standard and handy games, nothing too fancy on the computer. This might change with a higher acessibilty of digital solutions
