The photo above shows the same story being covered by three different news organisations and how format, tone and audience varies.

The BBC article's format is a lot more sophisticated, the title isn't dramatised or sensationalised, so this tells us that the tone is more factual and informative. The newspaper is also a broadsheet which is generally known for hard news and more in depth analysis.

The TMZ article is a tabloid, the format is a lot more sensationalised, the title is very big and the article is led by the photo. The tone is more dramatic and circulation of scandal and gossip.

The post by People on Instagram is considerably shorter compared to the others. The format has adapted to the platform, people on Instagram tend to consume content quickly, and don't have the time or the attention span to read long, lengthy articles. The post is a summarised version of the news and has a longer description if people want more information.

I read your recent story on "UWCSEA's MUN team getting into National finals" and thought you might be interested in an exclusive story about the first student-led activity to be acknowledged outside of the school community.
