Essentially, she is fated to forever weave for the gods, or else face eternal sorrow if she abandons her duties. 
Since this is a very traditional and popular Japanese myth, I want to keep the overall aesthetic as Japanese-inspired as possible. All the elements of the story--costumes, props, background, make-up, overall design, music etc--would be inspired by Japanese culture.
Since the story takes place in Heaven, I want the setting/background to be incredibly colorful and full of light to give an ethereal, whimsical mood and tone. 
The characters themselves are all divine beings, so I plan on them appearing very distinct. They would have bright, colorful, whimsical costumes, as well as bold make-up. Overall I want them to look mystical, and not resembling traditional human characters. 
The tension of the story is primarily emotional, since there is little action and no violence. To highlight this tension, I would focus on the actors' delivery, as the plot is very character-focused. 
The music would range from happy and light-hearted to serious and morose, depending on the scene.
