They will strain the access water, cover the paper with felt and dry the paper. The students will then place their paper on a cookie sheet to let it dry. After that they will lay a book on top of it to flatten. Once it's flat the paper is ready to be reused again!

Students will interview administrators, custodians, teachers and students and ask them questions about recycling within in the school. Does the school have separate bins for recyclables? Are we doing everything we can to make sure our school is reducing, reusing and recycling? If not, what can we change? Are students aware that they should be separating their paper, plastic, food and other products, even within their own classroom? Students will create their own questions, as well as these. The students will record their interviews and use video editing technology to edit the videos and present them to the class, school board, administrators, and teachers.

The students will reread the book and then create a list together of everything in the classroom that uses energy. They will include items that could be turned off or unplugged every day. The students will present their findings and the class will compile their lists to make a master list. Each week there will be a power patrol officer that makes sure the items on the list are taken care of each day. This will help our classroom preserve energy. Once, the students practice power patrol, we will volunteer to present our ideas and master list to other classrooms, teachers and students throughout the school.
