I Don't Want to Do Electrical Class Anymore Hey, mom. I know my dream for a while has been doing electrical. Well for the last couple weeks i've found out i really don't like it as much as i thought i did. This is completely normal, 80% of college students change their major and I'm still in high school so I should be fine changing my interest. I actually realised I didn't like it too much anymore when I worked with pop pop this summer. I told you I had fun so you wouldn't feel bad because I was all the way in maine. I want to do Business/Marketing, these are both very good for finding jobs so I won't have to worry about being unemployed. I could do these in high school by going to cedar creek because they offer both of these classes and i could take them for the rest of my 3 years in highschool and be far ahead when I get into collage. I know I've always said I never wanted to go to college but I've recently been proving to myself that I can do college. I want to prove myself to myself.

    Title: Mental Health and Homework

According to survey data, 56% of students consider homework a primary source of stress. I am part of that 56%. As someone who gets stressed out easily, homework is definitely a huge factor. 78-87% of students participate in extracurricular activities. Doing so on top of homework can be stressful. I stay after school up to three times a week for an hour, just to come home and do two-three hours of homework. It’s a known fact that if your grades drop, you cannot be in after school clubs, which is totally unfair. Why should students be forced to stop doing what makes them happy all because they didn’t turn in extra work that causes even more stress than school. Almost 50% of teachers assign homework for their students. In ACIT’s case, that means we usually have homework for four out of our eight classes. That’s a lot for some kids, especially when some have jobs, have to take care of siblings, and like I mentioned before, extracurriculars. I know that when I get home from a long day of school and clubs, I just want to relax. Having to sit at the table and do homework for hours frustrates me, and it makes me tired and most of the time leaves me in a bad mood. It’s definitely one of my main sources of stress, and lots of other kids as well.

Uhhh Home Work According to a survey 56% of people consider homework their number one cause of stress. Another thing is that people won’t get a chance to relax if they have pounds of homework to do. I need a 504 plan so when I have homework for 8 classes it gets stressful full at points. Also if people have activities after school that only give them a couple of hours to get homework done. Another thing is why should people have to do work after 8 hours, instead people could hand out with their friends or spend time with their families. I haven’t been able to watch the new hockey season because I have at least five to six things of homework. I wish that schools had an alternative for homework mabey something like watching an educational video or movie. That is why my argument is against homework.

Over 4 million people have died from Covid-19 these past 2 years. Millions of families will never see their loved ones again because of this disease. Do you want to stop this suffering? It is so simple. All you have to do is social distance. Social distancing stops the spread of covid by 80%. Someone close to me was infected by Covid-19 because I convinced them not to social distance. I thought it wasn't a big deal. I was wrong. Because of my ignorance, someone I love is now struggling with Covid-19 and worries over spreading it to those close to them.

Too many people do not take this pandemic seriously and don't social distance. I was once one of these people. I understand you are ignorant but know that it isn't an abstract concept on the news, far away and unable to hurt you. It is very real and social distancing drastically helps reduce the spread of this deadly disease. You are nearing the end of your childhood and are becoming adults. Act like it. Be responsible and stop this evil. If you care about your friends and family, students of ACIT I implore you to actually social distance. Help stop the spread so no more people, especially those closest to you, die from this dangerous disease.

No More Homework The University of San Diego states that excessive homework is related to high stress levels, physical health, and lack of balance. 56% of students say that is a primary stressor in their daily lives. Teachers need to stop giving homework, there is no benefit to it. I feel as though it worsens my desire to learn. I want to learn but if the teacher thinks I am going to forget by tomorrow tham maby what they taught wasn't important enough for me to remember. Our school should not have homework and see what happens, not as many kids would have mental stress, and students would enjoy the long and hard years of school more. The University also states that homework causes health problems and stress to the student. If my school saw that what they were giving me caused problems then I don't trust my school to do what is best for the students.

Title: No one wants to do homework

We have been in school for 7 hours already. Why should we do homework if we already wasted half our day at school. Homework causes a lot of problems for students. There was a study in Stanford University, 56 percent of students consider homework a cause of stress. I get stressed by thinking if I wil get a lot of homework each day. You can’t say in your life that homework never stressed you out and if it didn’t then you're lying to yourself. Homework can affect student’s sleep schedules because they are too busy finishing up their homework. A journal of Adolescent health states that 8% of high schoolers in the US get 9 hours of sleep. They also state 23% of high schoolers get 6 hours of sleep or less and 10% get 5 hours or less. Everyday when I get back from school I always do my homework because I don’t want to stress over it while I’m relaxing. If I don’t do it first then I will worry about it a lot. Sleeping is really important because it can affect how students act. They won’t be able to focus and might even sleep during class. Homework can also lower down your grade which makes me pretty upset about it. The national center for Education statistics found that high school students get an average of 6.8 hours of homework per week. You can be doing something else beside doing homework like being with your family or playing outside. Kids get 10 minutes of homework per day and at 6th grade is when you get an hour of homework per day. The National Education Association and the National Parent Teacher Association recommend that students spend 10 minutes per grade level per night on homework. They’re even trying to reduce how much time you should spend on homework. Does the school know how much problems homework causes a student. Recently I have been hearing students say that they will do their homework any chance they can get in school. This is one of the major reasons I stress over school because we already have exams, quizzes, and tests, why do we even need homework. I just wish they already got rid of homework. I'm so tired of it.

Title: Less stress, more time. Three quarters (75%) of American high schoolers and half of middle schoolers described themselves as “often or always feeling stressed” by schoolwork. That is a lot of teenagers are overwhelmed about not having enough time for doing their work.According to a recent study, 9 out of 10 college students in the United States experience stress during the school year. Somewhat surprisingly, “only'' 75% of adults have reported feeling stressed out. Stress among college students is a significant health issue, and authorities should not take this problem lightly. High school pressures can be extra stressful for kids who learn and think differently. They might feel more anxious and worried than other kids their age. I had to write my teacher an email that I didn’t have enough time to do my homework due to after school games or practices and getting home late. A lot of kids are busy after school due to work or due sports and get home late and are tired. As a student myself, the teacher should understand that not all kids have enough time to finish their work. Homework over a certain time limit can cause stress, depression, anxiety, lack of sleep, and more. Homework distracts from extracurriculars and sports as well, something colleges often look for. Multiple studies have found that most students are getting too many extra assignments, leading to sleep deprivation, unhealthy levels of stress, as well as related health problems. The second reason that students should not be given homework is that they require time to rest and take their minds off school work. Just like how teachers have meetings after school or busy after school they need more time to grade their student work or assign work just like how students need enough time to finish a work.

Past my curfewMom, I know that I have shown up to the household an hour past my curfew and I am sorry for that but here's why I shouldn't be grounded. First of all this is the first time that i have ever come home any amount of time past curfew and this isn't the first time i have ever been out either. I believe this should be like a court where on your first offence you may not get in as much trouble as if it were you 3 or 4 offenses. If you were to ground me I would be losing my phone and any social contact with humans. It is scientifically proven that children who lack social interaction tend to feel feelings of loneliness and depression. So I feel like it would be okay if you were to take my phone or my ability to hang out with friends temporarily but not both at one time. If you were to take both away at the same time for more than a week or so i think that i would be extremely depressed and i would only be seeing friends at school which is a place to learn not socialize. I'm already not super popular and taking away my phone and being able to hang out with friends would only hurt that and make me somewhat irrelevant for a month or however long.	To talk about some more facts, according to Tulane University of public health, isolation from people can actually cause a temporarily weaker immune system and can actually cause heart problems. Not super severe heart problems but it can cause mild or minor ones. Obviously you have the final decision because what you say goes but i really think you should take what i said into consideration. But unless you want me to go insane and be super sad i ask of you to not ground me for over a week or just take one of the two things at a time away or take something else away it's up to you.

Title: Stop the Stress! Did you know 55.5% of high school students play after school sports in NJ? That's half of the students in NJ. When those students get home from a very long day they have the stress of completing all of their work before the deadline, helping around the house, their social life, and responsibilities and sometimes that can be a lot. I’m a student athlete myself and I know sometimes it's very stressful after a long day of school, practice for the high school, then going straight to my travel teams practice in ventnor to go home and worry about all of my homework. I even have 7 classes to worry about, that's 7 homework assignments and i didnt even eat, shower, or help around the house yet. I know I'm speaking for everyone when I say homework is pointless. It's stressful, frustrating, and doesn't help. If you do not understand how to do the assignment then you are doomed at that point. It’s not just about student athletes. What if someone has something going on at home, or they have work and can't do it? Just stop the madness already! Schools should not be able to give kids homework, you learn at school not at home. When we are at school we have a resource, our teacher. So stop making kids feel pressure or stressed out over homework!

Title: No more Homework! We have to go to school for many hours during the week. We should have all of the school day to do all of the work. When we have about 8 classes to deal with, it's very stressful. Some people have a hard home life And it could be difficult to do homework. When you have to wake up at 5:00 just so that you can catch the bus to make it to school at 7:35. To Then leave school at 2:30 Pm, you should have enough time to do all of the work you have to do in school and not have any homework. If you look at it this way you have like 7 hours of school so if you go home and have to do a whole 2 hours of homework, It's like you're working a full time job. You are not even getting paid for this “full time job” you are paying for your time. We should not have homework because it stresses people out and it is a waste of time.

Did you know that 56% of students consider homework their primary source of stress? Me myself, homework does stress me, I always try to finish everything in class so that I don't have to be worrying about doing it at home. Average students have 6-9 classes, and imagine if all of them 9 teachers assign an assignment. Many students including myself stress out trying to finish them in a short amount of time, yourself trying to finish them by the next day. Teachers shouldn't give out so much homework, students stay up late trying to finish their homework. I'm not going to disagree with homework either, because homework does help, and see the weakness or strengths in skills we are learning so later on we can ask the teachers for help where we need it the most. I think one or two homework assignments per week would be a reasonable amount.

I don't think that we should have as much homework as we do. Now I personally do not get a lot of homework but I know that other people are constantly stressed out about homework. A Lot of times homework turns into busy work that the teacher’s just give out for you to do and sometimes dont even check the homework. Some teachers I know sometimes grade your homework which I don't think is far because sometimes people don't have enough time to put a lot of effort into it. Studies show that too much homework can do more harm than good to kids. According to Healthline, Written by Sandra Levy, it states that, “.’When it came to stress, more than 70 percent of students said they were “often or always stressed over schoolwork,” with 56 percent listing homework as a primary stressor. Less than 1 percent of the students said homework was not a stressor.”My opinion on homework is that homework should not be assigned every single day. Sometimes i'll come home with 4 classes worth of homework and i have till after i get home from crew practice which ends at 5:30 and then i have to shower and eat dinner then go work on homework and i don't get done until 7 or 8 o’clock. Therefore, homework gives too much stress.

Title: Please Let Me Slide This One Time

I realize that I was out with my friends way past my curfew and I know how much you tell me that if I want to keep going out I must follow all your rules, but in my defense this is the first time I stay out later than I'm allowed to. I feel like grounding me shouldn’t be necessary at the moment because I have a lot of big events coming up this weekend that if I miss them it would affect me for the rest of my teenage years. If you ground me, not only will I be missing a few very important events but I will also lose all social interaction with the people I enjoy being around, isn't that extremely traumatic for a teenager. There have been many studies that have proven that adolescents who do not have enough social interaction with people their age are more likely to suffer from mental health issues like depression and anxiety. With that being said I really hope you decide to not ground me and I will be sure to always be home on time from now on.
