  • Missouri wanted to become a slave state 
  • When they became congress wanted to even out the score of the state so they made the northern part of missouri a free state
  • Made a bounty across the Louisiana territory.The purpose of the Missouri Compromise was between slaves and free states the Missouri was a slave state and the Maine as a free state 
  • Then the missouri compromise was then repealed by the Kansas-Nebraska Act
  • Then 3 years later the missouri compromise was then declared unconstitutional by the supreme court and so then slavery was not allowed in the country
