Coats, stockings, shirts. This is essential for the expedition. Knowing how long they will be gone they can’t expect winter to be warm. Anything can happen and nothing is better than being prepared. 

2.)Tin horns, lamps, lanterns. When it is dark outside how are they supposed to move without this. They will lose valuable ground if they camp for the night every time it gets dark.

3.) Medicines. When the travelers get sick they need this. This will help them recover quicker and explore longer.  

4.) Wires, needles, knives, etc. Whether it is to cut something up or self defense it is never bad to have a knife around. 

5.) Pocket Pistols. They are easy to hide and great to kill. When approaching the natives this helps them know that the travelers aren’t trying to kill them. But, if they decide to attack, the travelers will be ready. 

6.) Fishing equipment. When there is a need for quick food there is no better source than fish. Stop by a pond and catch a fish. They are easy to make and good as well. 

7.) Tomahawk. This is great to build camps and hunt. It is like a hatchet which is also great to have in the woods. 

8.) Sextant (Navigating equipment). This will help the travelers know where to go. It is a great directional system which is easy and accurate to read. 

9.) Gunpowder. What's the point of bringing a gun if you can’t shoot it? 

10.) Pigtail tobacco. A great trading source with the Native Americans. Meeting the natives without trade was sometimes dangerous.

I chose Clark over Lewis because he proved to be a hard worker. In the article it said that Clark was enlisted in the Army when he was 19 years old. He was able to rise to the top in less than 10 years when he became captain of the Army. This proves that he is a great person for the job. Not only has he done this, but understands the English language. He had a great education early in his life and challenged himself to be the best. 
            When Clark was 14 years old he moved from Virginia to Kentucky. Thanks to this move he had the experience of traveling due to no easier ways of transportation in the late 1700s. In conclusion I want William Clark to be my captain on this mission because of his experience, creativity, and smarts.

He was the oldest member on the mission and had great ways to trade fur. Due to the encounter of Native Americans, this would help the others out great. Having a trader in the group would increase the trip length by two. The winters wouldn’t be as harsh and there wouldn’t be a good reason to retreat. Not only was he a good trader but could translate some languages from the natives. 
     In conclusion I would choose Toussaint because of his experience with the Native Americans. If there was no way to interact with the natives then the expedition wouldn’t last. If the relations with natives ever became bad he could talk them into finding peace. He is a great addition to the group.

During the expedition York helped a lot on the hunts. In the journals from the other men, York was constantly in them for his hunting. He listened to Clark as he should but also went the extra mile. He even went as far as carrying the dead animals on his back so nobody else had to. He did whatever needed to be done without hesitation. 
     The main reason I chose York over anybody else is because of his experience with Clark. He was a hard working man that always did his job. He understood his life as a slave and made the best of it. He was a strong, hardworking man that would help this expedition drastically.

They were in the mixed prairie ecosystem where deep-rooted grasses can survive. They were very thrilled that they found something new in the prairie. 
      Mixed-grass is used today for some types of medicine. Some of these include itch cream, sneezing treatment, and help with watery eyes. It is very helpful for the animals of the plains. The predators can hide themselves to attack their prey and the prey can use this to hide from their predators. It is a very helpful plant in the plains.

During this time Lewis studied and reported the plants nearby. When the plants started to bloom he noticed a smaller purplish plant. According to Lewis it was a delicate and beautiful flower. In honor of William Clark he named it pulchella meaning beautiful. A common name for it today is Clarkia. 
      The minute they saw this flower they knew it would be used for amazing decorations. The delicacy was everywhere. The stem, the pedals, branches, and more all show how amazing this flower is. Lewis was very happy when he found it.

It gave them meat, clothing, trade items, and many more. Without this animal being discovered, there was a good chance the expedition wouldn’t have been as successful. In the event of running out of food the bison made sure it didn’t happen. One bison could last two people a little less than a year! The best thing about it was that some people didn’t even use it for the meat. It gave great warmth to the humans and even created huts and tents out of it. This was a great discovery. 
              When the Corps discovered this creature they were amazed. They would write in journals on their killings with great excitement. They were gentle with them until it was time to strike and kill. They saw that they were mostly peaceful creatures and thought it was amazing for how fierce and big they looked.

Lewis noticed a cat-like animal a little smaller than a tiger on the mountain. They weren’t sure what to name it. Was it more like a lynx? Or more like a wolf?  They decided to combine the two which made Loucirvia. This was the phonetic spelling of loups ceveir, which was a common name for lynx in France. But, it was roughly translatable for wolves. 
      This changed America because we learned that there are many different types of cats. We started to study more types and discovered more. The bobcat really helped improve the finding of other types of cats.

The village of Sawa-haini which is now modern day Northern South Dakota was the home of these people. The encounter of Lewis and Clark resulted in a split between the tribe. It went from a united group to a three town tribe. 
     Lewis and Clark met three traders from each town. Joseph Garreau, Pierre-Antoine Tabeau, and Joseph Gravelines were their names. This helped Lewis and Clark finish the expedition. There weren't any problems involved with the two because they always helped each other. The tribe was very friendly and did whatever Lewis and Clark needed. Without the Arikaras tribe, Lewis and Clark could have failed.

It is near the Missouri River and a great place to rest. This landform is surrounded by many trees which makes it very peaceful. Clark wanted to find more information about the hill so he started to climb it. There he noticed that there was more than 100 acres of land on top of the hill. Some native tribes believed that this rock was where the bison roamed before they went to the heavens. We affect this location very carefully as it is in a private park hidden by the river. The Central Missouri Correctional Center now owns the territory.

Tavern Cave is known as the best place to survive in that area. It provided great shelter to anyone that came there. If this was during modern times it would be known as a truck stop. Native American bands and European travelers always stopped to rest.  Sadly, the cave was blown away when a group of people were building railroads.
