Wesley Lowery wrote this article well, with all the descriptive literary terms he used, but it could have been better. Wesley Lowery had personal stories put into his text, but what the personal stories didn't have where the descriptive part to them, the story was just told then he ( the Author ) moved on without explaining the impact on the historical event ( you had to figure it out on your own ). The article, on the other hand, did have very powerful and descriptive words like, "death" and "abandoned" going toward the tone of the text. Wesley Lowery, also used flashback, because it was an event that had happened in the past, but a flashback could be a powerful thing and he didn't take advantage of the very important event that changed the way people now think.

The effective writer, Westley Lowery, uses strong, persuading words to tell the powerful story of Emmet Till. He uses words like "death," "murder," and "tortured." These words set the tone for the story to be sad, gloomy, and dark. Lowery also uses a comparison of the store. To how it was back than to how it looks now. He tells how the store should be a memorial site for everyone to remember this time. Westley uses flashback to tell the details of Emmet Till and how everyone reacted to this hard time. These details paint a picture for the readers minds to better understand Emmet Till and the effects he had on our history.

Lowery explains his meaning very well. For the people that don't know the story about Emmett Till, he gives a brief summary of the events that occurred surrounding him. He then explains how we should be keeping these places, that important pieces of history took place in, clean and restored. Also, by using the tone and diction he did, we, the readers, can connect and be brought into the story more easily. By doing this Lowery is getting is idea across more clearly than if he did not write this way.

The tone of the article the Westley Lowery wrote was very informational but not very informational at the same time. He would say something as a flashback and then go into a complete different topic about something else without explaining why that happened or why something was said. But he did a very good job explaining the events that happened through the Emmet Till's case. He does a very good job at showing and telling pathos on hid death. When he talks about the death of Emmet Till, it makes me mad and upset that it happened the way it did and nothing happened to they guys that did that to Emmet. He also uses the words like tragic, death, endless fear and many words to explain his death and the heart broke of his family and friends.

In the beginning of the article it says, "a swath of poor agricultural towns separated by endless stretches of corn and cotton." That paints a picture of the setting. The author also uses good word choice. He uses words such as torture, fear, bitter, horror, death, and decaying.

I think he did a good job on the article about Emmett Tills death. Westley used describing words to make it more clear to the reader what he knows and thinks about Emmett's death. Not only describing words but, also tone.

Wesley Lowery uses pathos in this article too make you sad about what happened too emit. Lowery shows us of all the racism that took place in Mississippi in the 1955. "In 1955, it was the site of 14-year-old Emmett Till’s fatal crime — whistling at a white woman."

For example he uses the pathos persuasion to emotionally connect the reader to the writing and what the story is about. Dragging out the horrific details so the readers know and get attached to Emmett Till and how he was murdered.

When reading the article a lot of emotions start to flood in, like anger when you find out that the murders never where brought to justice by the court system and sadness and even happiness when seeing how may people still support Emmett and his family after many years. The article makes a connection with readers because maybe they've lost some one tragically. Imagery is used when Lowery describes how people felt when walking to support Emmet even though he has passed, so you can picture it in your mind.
