The minaret, however, is known to be an addition to the mosque that was made much later, during the Bahdinan Emirate (1376-1843 CE).

The Ikhsaniyyah Mosque or better known as the Batu Mosque, or White Mosque is the oldest mosque in Jambi city, Jambi province. This mosque is located opposite the center of Jambi City which is divided by the Batanghari river, precisely in the Olak Kemang area, Teluk Danau sub-district, Jambi.This mosque was founded in 1880 by a habib named Sayyid Idrus bin Hasan Al-Jufri. The building in the mosque is filled with various kinds of calligraphy decorations. The original pulpit stands gracefully on the right side of the mihrab. Meanwhile, the previous relic is at the back of the prayer room. The striking feature of this mosque is the many windows. The windows are installed in pairs that surround the mosque. Only the mihrab walls are windowless.Sayyid Idrus was the sultan or king who ruled the area in the late 19th century with the title Pangeran Wiro Kusumo.

The Batu Mosque was founded by Sayyid Idrus to fulfill the function of a place of worship for people across the city of Jambi. The people of the city of Jambi at that time, who were already fanatical about their Islam, used it as a place of worship and other social activities.
