Tash sultana uses electric guitar loops to create a reggae-fusion sound, which has heavily influenced me as I love the process of constantly adding layers through loops. When performing live, they use a looping pedal and a variety of guitar effects to re-create the atmosphere of the already produced and recorded songs, making each performance unique. These renditions of their songs are also accompanied by intricate guitar solos that are performed in a flow state.

Ruby Fields explores the genre of Australian indie rock, which is my favourite genre of music. Her use of simplistic yet powerful guitar licks that are recorded as both solos and rhythmic noise has a large influence on me. I am drawn to her unique conversational lyrics and her mix of distorted and clean guitar sounds in each song.

I find the exploration of psychedelia within music very interesting as it creates a deeper connection between the captivating effect of the music and the listener. She implicates numerous layers when producing through psychedelic sounds and guitar riffs to support the main melody, which is something that inspires me when making electronic music.

Violent Soho explore aspects of Australian indie and alternative rock in their music. In their more recent releases, the band decide to ‘have a conversation’ within their lyrics, rather than lyrics that suggest frustration and angst that support the distorted guitar tones and powerful yet often simplistic riffs (Benjo Kazue 2020).

Both Sycco and Charli XCX portray the importance of representing themselves within their music making, as audiences can grasp aspects of their personalities through their bright music and unique music.

It is evident that Ruby Fields’s music stems from Courtney Barnett’s exploration of relaxed conversational lyrics and indie rock anthems, as she is ‘one the most influential Australian singer-songwriters’ (Zan Rowe 2023). Courntey Barnett uses mildly distorted guitar melodies to support her largely known ‘lyrics and iconic, nonchalant drawl’ (Zan Rowe 2023). This is done through writing about human experiences that are very relatable and written in a capturing and unique way.

His compositions are primarily guitar based and demonstrate multiple layers of different guitar rhythms and melodies.
