The Women's Rights Convention took place when reformers came together on July 19th and 20th 1848 to discuss women's rights. Women were not only told that they don't have an important role in societal problem advocacy, but also told how to handle personal problems and decisions. In Seneca Falls, New York, women played an important role in advocating against slavery. They also planned the grievances based on the Declaration of Independence and the gathering in front of 300 people. They state that "men and women are created equal" which began a controversy. The controversy stated that women shouldn't sacrifice their status as mothers and wives for gender equality. This sparked the fight for gender rights and equality and eventually succeeded in granting women the basic rights they deserve.

The 14th amendment was ratified on July 9, 1868. The 14th amendment was granting the right to citizenship to anyone born in america. This was a big step in the women's rights movement because the african american women were extremely discriminated against. This was because not only were they african american, making them an inferior race according to society already, they were females. Historically, women were not allowed to do many things and majority stayed in the house and such. They were oppressed by the males in society, as deemed superior.

The overturn of Roe v Wade occurred in June 2022. The Roe v Wade case granted women the right to abortion. This overturning deprived women the right to abortion. This action was made due to republicans dominating the majority of the states and the government positions. The overruling caused a drawback in the women's rights movement progress. This depriving of women rights has made it harder for women to have control over their bodies and they have to go through a new process of fighting for abortion rights now.

Violence Against Women Act

The Violence against Women Act was passed in September 13, 1994. This act protests and supports responses against women's assault and abuse. This was passed after the severity of women abuse crimes were slowly brought to light as an important aspect of women's rights was women's respect. Although, women didn't ask for special treatment of any sort, women were given the minimum amount of respect whereas they deserved at least respect from one individual to another. This helped the movement as it decreased the amount of abuse and disrespect women got, which was a necessary step to help to grant women the rights they deserve. It would be easier to get their point across if they were fighting for justice from one individual to another instead of a superior group to an inferior.

The day Kamala Harris was sworn into presidency was January 20, 2021. Kamala Harris becoming vice president was an important event because she was the first asian american and african american woman to hold office. She was the first to graduate in her college as well. This event was crucial to the women's rights movement because it was the first major sign of women empowerment from not just society, but the government itself. Having women in the government more will increase the chances of women getting equality as they are mainly attempting to get the government to grant rights.
