Food is very spicy and varied in India, vegetarian food is very popular. Rice or vegetables are often served with curry. 

 

Languages: India has twenty-one official languages, only two less than the European Union. The majority of Indians speak Hindi. There are other languages like Bengali, Telugu or Tamil. Hindi and English are official languages of India.

The peacok symbolizes grace, the pride, and the beauty. The lotus represents long life and purity. And the Tiger is respected in India, for its strength, grace, and its incredible power.

The flag of India is orange, that stands for courage, sacrifice and spirit of renunciation, white, which meant for purity and truth, green, who represents faith and fertility, and the navy blue wheel in center, who denotes the continuity of nation's progress.

In 1638, the emperor Shah Jahan constructed the Taj Mahal, in memory of his wife, Mumataz.

In 1858, the British take control of India.

1915, After studying law in Britain and fighting for Indian rights in South Africa, Mohandas Gandhi launches a campaign of nonviolent resistance against British rule in India. Gandhi is called Mahatma meaning "Great Soul”.

In 1947 India gains independence from the British and is divided into two countries, India and Pakistan.
