When i was in elementary school my mom worked a lot and wasn’t home much, so my grandpa watched me. I am an only child so summers can get boring easily. I had always been a dog lover, and have always wanted a dog. Little did I know that my grandpa had been looking for local shelters to go to. I remember the day i got Romeo (my dog) very vividly. My grandpa had driven us to a dog shelter in Brick one day in August. We had been to a few shelters before but none of the dogs felt right to us, until I saw Romeo. Since Romeo is a rescue dog he didn't have a good background, i remember seeing him and his sister Juliet in the same big cage with their toys. Their cage said “do not touch” they might bite, the first thing i did was put my finger in the cage. Romeo immediately ran to me and let me pet him thats when we knew he was the dog for us.

My teaches in middle school had always told me about high school, and how everything there counts. High school for me at the time (middle school) had seemed so far away, but in the blink of an eye it was my eighth grade graduation. I remember my principal saying a long speech about how high school is some of our most important years. Summer passes and the first day of 9th grade starts. I had never been in this what seemed to be at the time a huge building. I got lost many times, but i got it down with the help of friends. In middle school i never took grades seriously. It wasn't until the freshman orientation where i had started caring about my future. Sometimes i get lazy, and its easier to sit at home and go on my phone instead of doing my home work. But i have to remind myself that i need to get through high school before my life begins and college starts.

I had never really been interested in school. I didn't try if i wasn't interested which resulted in me having bad grades. Whenever i got D or even an F it didn't faze me. Until i reached high school. I took high school as a opportunity to start over. Every a or b I got it made me motivated and proud to do better, and not get lazy and keep up the hard work i put into my assignments. Ever since i changed my mindset to being more positive, and believing in myself that i am capable of more then just d’s and f’s i have been more happy and have been getting no less then a B. this is important to me because it has made me care about my future, and school work more.
