The archduke and his wife, Sophie, rode through Sarajevo in an open car. As they were driving, one of the conspirators hurled a bomb. It injured an officer in another car instead of the archduke. After visiting the injured officer in the hospital, there was a car waiting for the archduke and fired twice at the back seat of their car and the archduke and his wife were dead.
