Esperanza shows her lack of confidence in herself throughout the chapter but I chose this part because she describes her feet as "ugly" which is a strong word to use on yourself. This led Esperanza's grand mother to be sad the rest of her life and sit by a window in sadness. While Esperanza has the same name as her grand mother she states that she doesn't want to "inherit her place by the window".
