Dreams represent Maui's aspirations particularly to prove himself as a good fisherman to his brothers.

Maui's brothers could potentially be considered the trickster archetype because they try to hinder Maui's success in fishing, but they only loosely align because they don't cause all that much trouble except when they eat Maui's fish without asking him first.
