Growing up with music in my life I had heard about the famous classical composers and known a few of them from my Mom talking about them and playing some of their works. To me and in my own words the Western Musical Canon is what pops in our head when someone says "classical music". It's Bach and Beethoven mainly who are said first when someone is asked who is from this canon. They would be described as the "winners" of this era and canon in my eyes. This music is specifically made for attentive listening. That is what classical music is. It isn't background noise or just a filler for silence. When I was listening to the music I found myself paying attention to it. It wasn't going through one ear and out the other. I would try to guess what was about to happen next in the piece or how loud it was going to get.
