What I first noticed when reading the last chapter of Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston was when Jeanne goes to the store to get pork tenderloin for dinner she finds Squishy the cat and give him a big hug. This is symbolic of the connection that she has to animals and show her compassion of living beings. Also when the cat ends up following her home, I noticed that when the pork tenderloin falls in the sewer the cat goes down the storm drain to retrieve the missing meat for her. I think that she and Squishy will have a strong connection throughout the story. I hope that they can be nice to eachother and I hope Squishy won't bite her. I predict that Squishy will run away and go to the nether to find Conner Atkins in the Scottsdale Detention Center for the youth. When Squishy arives they will go to the arobic fitness center and work on their tight-rope fiddling skills together. Because of this Jeanne will find it harder to cook the pork tenderloin without Squishy. I honestly cannot imagine a world without these two because they are such a good duo. Anyway have a good day.
