Sarah Emma Edmonds was a spy in the civil war, She disguised as a man to serve for the army. She documented the whole thing. This picture relates to the book because at the beginning she is her true self not in a disguise or being a man. She is a very brave individual and took on many challenges that many did not.

This is a photo of slaves working on a farm in South Carolina. This reminds of a scene in the book because there were slave farms around by where Emma was stationed for war. This shows to me slaves working hard for maybe hours days very close to battlefields or military camps. Also, some people thought that slavery was right and worked them outside all day and even put them in danger. Other people didn't support it because it was using people.
