         <description><![CDATA[<div>During last decades northern hemisphere is observing a large enhancement in wildifire number, duration and intensity.&nbsp; During 2019 summer period an unprecedent wildfire activity was recorded. The biomass burning emission&nbsp; was transported on hemispheric scale as observed in the attached animation of CO measured by AIRS instrument onboard on Aqua satellite.&nbsp;<br><br>The measurements of interest could be: Visible images, CO total column, Aerosol Index, Thermal anomalies, false color images from corrected reflectance to detect fire impact on vegetation, night imagery&nbsp;<br><br>The instruments to use could be: OMPS, AIRS, VIIRS, TROPOMI, CALIOP<br><br>The satellites to consider could be: Suomi NPP, Aqua/Terra, CALIPSO, Sentinel satellites<br><br>Another interesting approach could be to compare the atmospheric impact of wildfires in Siberia with the wildfires whxich afflict Amazon during almost the same period.or the fires in Australia<br><br></div>]]></description>

The worldview has also shown a good satellite view. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Where did the dust storm disappear????? Case Study</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>The controversy arose over the dust storm predicted by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority on April 30, 2025, which some considered an April Fool's joke, and many questioned where the storm was, claiming that the Egyptian Meteorological authority deceived us!!!!!</strong></p><p>The Arab Republic of Egypt was affected by a khamsin low-pressure system starting Tuesday, April 29, 2025, that began forming over the eastern desert of Libya due to rising temperatures, with atmospheric pressure reaching 1000 mb. This was accompanied by high wind speeds reaching 80 km/h and gusts, which stirred up sand and dust over the eastern Libyan Desert, gradually advancing to the western Egyptian border. The storm extended to Siwa, where wind speeds recorded 39 knots, approximately equivalent to 72 km/h, significantly reducing horizontal visibility to 500 meters.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>As the khamsin low-pressure system progressed on Wednesday, April 30, its effects continued over the western desert and then gradually moved inland to include cities in northern Upper Egypt, Greater Cairo, the canal cities, and then cities in southern Upper Egypt and Sinai.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Numerous weather predictions and warnings were issued by the forecasting and early warning center of EMA, and the low-pressure system was monitored hourly using various global and local numerical models, as well as through monitoring the movement of third-generation satellite images and recording from observation weather stations continuously.</p><p>By:</p><p>Eman Shaker</p><p>Director of Remot Sensing center</p><p>EMA</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
