The Heliocentric model is a theory that is to be believed that the Sun is in the middle of the universe and Earth and the other planets orbit around it.
In Samos a small island near Turkey, they built a model of the Heliocentric Model as early as 200 B.C. but the Geocentric Model still stayed the main belief or focus.

As technology and resources became more skilled astronomers were able to find out more information about the Heliocentric Model. The proof that set nearly every mind into believing this model was that astronomer Nicholas Copernicus realised that the Earth is the 3rd planet and that stars don't rotate around the Earth but instead the Earth rotates around the stars. To this day the Heliocentric Model is accurate and that Earth is the third planet and rotates around the sun.

Ptolemy was a mathematician and an astronomer. He believed that the Earth was the centre, one of his theories for this was that the Greek word for Earth is Geo meaning Geocentric. His famous work was called the Almagesti. Almagesti was a theory that the Earth and planets would move in a circle and Earth would move alone an equant. His flawed theory was believed for many centuries.

Over a thousand years later, Nicolaus came up with an amazing way at looking at the Earth. He believed in the Heliocentric system and put the the sun meaning helio, at the centre of the universe. Other star watchers had already believed the same but it was Nicolaus who bring this idea to the world. His ideas showed that the Earth spins on its axis which meant other planets spun at different times meaning the Sun would not be able to reach all the planets and that Sun was intact in the centre.

100 years form Copernicus, Galileo the genius and investor took after the Heliocentric Model. He devised a telescope with could enlarge things up to 20 times. This gave Galileo the opportunity to prove the Heliocentric theory. He published his observations and went against the Church. He was sent to life imprisonment but his theory couldn't be stopped and other astronomers continued with his work and learnt the ways of the world and the heavens beyond.

Khayyan invented the way of keeping time and that was the calendar. An amazing accomplishments was his calculation of the year to be 365.24219858156 days long, which is accurate to the sixth decimal place! By Tahlia
