Evidence: When Anxiety takes over and removes the core emotions, Joy initially resists. However, later in the film, she takes the time to listen to Anxiety’s s fears about Riley’s future. Instead of dismissing Anxiety, Joy realizes that it is trying to protect Riley, even though its approach is overwhelming.

2. Problem-Solving - Working with others to find solutions to challenges.

Evidence: After being pushed aside, Joy doesn’t give up. Instead, she strategies ways to return and restore balance in Riley’s emotions.

Rather than forcing her leadership, she collaborates with the other emotions, including Anxiety, to help Riley manage her feelings. This problem-solving ability is crucial because it shows how leaders can adapt and work through conflicts rather than trying to control everything.

3. Empathy - Understanding and sharing the feelings of others.

Evidence: At the start, Joy struggles to accept the new emotions, especially Anxiety. However, by the end, she understands that Anxiety is not trying to harm Riley but is genuinely concerned for her future. In one of the most emotional moments, Joy reassures Anxiety that it is okay to feel worried, but those feelings don’t have to control everything. This shift in perspective helps Anxiety step back and work alongside the other emotions instead of taking over.

4. Adaptability in Communication - Adjusting communication style to different situations and people.

Evidence: Joy originally leads by spreading positivity and keeping Riley happy. However, when this approach no longer works, she adapts her communication style.

Instead of telling Anxiety what to do, she asks questions, listens, and helps Anxiety realize that all emotions are needed for Riley’s well-being.

A good leader listens to others and does not try to do everything alone.

Change can be scary, but learning to work with new people or ideas makes leadership stronger.

Every person (or emotion) has an important role, and teamwork leads to success.
