-It was a great strategic point for America to have a large impact.

-fighting moved into the Philippine's capital of Manila  
-MacArthur's troops captured Manila in March 1945
-left the city in ruins and caused the death of over 100,000 civilians, and 80,000 in combat

-a significant win for the Allies 
-Proved that Japanese war values, of winning over life, were not always successful

-It was a battle to see who could control the Atlantic Sea
-The british were the main navy ad helped the allies the most
-Germany's submarines were very effective in this war just like they were in WW1
