         <description><![CDATA[<div>ID:<br>-November 24,1944<br>-A battle between japan and america <br>-American military invaded Iwo Jima in Tokyo, Japan<br>-America dropped fire bombs on the town<br>-It was a great strategic point for America to have a large impact. <br> <br>SIG:<br>-significant impact on the town in Japan<br>-Firebombs were things that when dropped would automatically start a fire and spread fast, therefore very controversial <br>-It was one of the last battles before we dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>ID:<br>-Oct 23, 1944 – Oct 26, 1944<br>-Battle in the Pacific between America and the Japanese <br>-The largest naval battle in history <br>-The first time that the Japanese used kamikaze attacks<br>- Japanese were able to inflict damages upon American ships but suffered from high casualties<br>-Japanese became overwhelmed by the amount of supposedly oncoming ships and retreated<br>-fighting moved into the Philippine's capital of Manila  <br>-MacArthur's troops captured Manila in March 1945<br>-left the city in ruins and caused the death of over 100,000 civilians, and 80,000 in combat<br>-more than 80,000 <br><br>Significance:<br>-a significant win for the Allies <br>-Proved that Japanese war values, of winning over life, were not always successful<br>-Showed the desperation of the Japanese military as they resulted to suicide missions due to the lack of experience pilots</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>ID: - June 6, 1944<br>- Allied powers deployed massive troops on France's beaches at Normandy's coast<br>- 7,000 ships that carried 100,000 soldiers were sent to Normandy's coast<br>- Also, 23,000 paratroopers were dropped inland<br>- America attacked at different spots that were code named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Sword, and Juno<br><br>SIG: - America captured the Utah Beach in less than 3 hours, and suffered less than 200 deaths<br>- 2,500 Americans were either killed or wounded at the attach at Omaha Beach<br>- Although there were many casualties, American forces began to slowly knock out the German Forces<br>- 35,000 American troops had landed at Omaha, and another 23,000 Americans landed at Utah<br>- In addition, another 75,000 British and Canadian troops were on shore </div>]]></description>
