In chapter twenty-eight, Ellery and her brother, Ezra,  go to Officer Rodrigurezes house to help him unpack his boxes while also trying to figure out if he is responsible for the missing girls. While in the house, Ellery noticed a picture on the mantle of Officer Rodriguez's father when he was younger. Ellery notices how the dude in the picture and Ezra look a lot similar. She starts putting the pieces together and figures out that Officer Rodriguez is her brother. She goes into a spiral trying to process it all. Her mother had an affair with Rodriguez’s dad when she came back into town for her fathers funeral. During this scene, the action is dramatized with very exaggerated feeling. In the author's words, “sharp breath”, legs have turned into rubber bands”, and “panic zips through my bloodstream”. These phrases add to the scene and truly give reader the feeling of Ellery in this situation. 

      This book reminds me of one of my friends. Just like this character, her whole life she has wanted to know who her father is but her mother doesn’t answer her questions. My friend’s and mother’s relationship has been unstable the past couple of years. My friend wants to know more about her life but her mother doesn't think she is ready for it. This is just like the character in my book because Ellery constantly asks her mother questions about her family and father but her mother doesn’t answer the question.
