Every country has its own culture and its own attitude and the topic "personal space" is one aspect of culture: How close do we stand besides our friends? How do we approach strangers? Is it known as impolite to stare in somebody´s eyes while they are talking or is it impolite not to look at someone? 
I think those questions would be very interesting and we could learn more about the Spanish/Italien/German culture.
