I also believe that my value scale needs to expand here as well. Is there anything I can do to improve the composition of this piece?

Will Brubaker portrait
I like how this drawing turned out but I would really like it if I could add color as well. It feels like it is missing something. I also feel like I could have done something better for the hair. It just seems to blend together and seems like a mess. Although I really like the eyes and the face. I feel like I did the eyes really well. They are in the right place and it works so well. Does anyone have any tips of how to do hair better.

I created this piece as a way of practicing portraits with colored pencil. The model this piece features has vitiligo, a skin condition where skin loses its pigment causing patches of different colored skin. When I’m doing portraits I like to make sure there is lots of diversity across the pieces because it makes them more interesting. This piece definitely taught me a lot about and highlighted how different skin pigments have to be drawn different ways, like I can’t use the same colors to highlight the lighter skin as I use for the darker skin. Overall, I really like how this piece came out and would like to do more pieces like this in the future.

So I drew still life (something I am not familiar with at all). I decided to draw one of my pill bottles because my pills are kinda keeping me going and helping me figure stuff out. I didn't really know what to draw and/or how to shade so my page is pretty blank. However, I feel as though it looks okay. I'm not a huge sketch artist so this was out of my comfort zone. However, I did learn a little bit more about taking your time when sketching and using a subject to change the piece instead of it being abstract art.

I created a head and base covered with beads, and felt as though having something bigger and more out there for the top of the head was important. It adds a new dimension and creates a contrast between the two.The clouds represent big thoughts and emotions such as being confident and more happy. I liked what this added to the sculpture and would be excited to create something like it again.
