Week 6: Evaluation and reflection (Unit1/2: 1.2/1.3

16/10/17
The activity that helped me this week the most is definitely creating a PowerPoint on formal elements. This has helped me a lot, as I have managed to gather all my thoughts and knowledge on formal elements and present them onto a PowerPoint. I now am more open minded when it comes down to the aspects of formal elements. I have learn all about the individual elements, I have learned how to shoot images with consist of the four formal elements, for example shooting a low angled photograph of the train tracks. That represents “line”. These tasks have helped me to Develop my skills even further, in future I will now be able to shoot perfect photographs.

The way I completed my task, I used PowerPoint to create a base for my formal elements. On PowerPoint I presented and showed how and what I know about the four elements. I did struggle to present my presentation as I was very nervous about it which caused a barrier. The way I over come this I just new that if I presented my work and didn’t think about it, it would be over in no time. I am proud that I got up and presented my work as I didn’t think I could do it. Each of my PowerPoint slides showed what I knew on each element. Within this task I also included my edited images from photo shop and compared my unedited and edited version on my PowerPoint.

I used power point and photo shop this week. To help me present my power point and to finish my work. Once I presented my work to the class I got asked questions why I chose my final images and what I liked about them. I had to give a clear voiced opinion on why i liked them, I have an example that I chose the coloured one as the flower image is really vibrant and bright. I enjoyed creating my power point the most because I like using power point as it is easy and straight forward to use.
link to my power point
\\hcfsrv01\HomeDir$\Students\11205934\My Documents\media folder\Formal elements powerpoint.pptx

The improvements that I need to work on in the future is to include more information on each slide about each element, also maybe explain and go into details why I actually like the look of the photographs I have taken. For example I took a photo of a bunch of flowers which presented colour, explain why I actually liked the look of them? The aspect and the quality of it. This week I feel like I have achieved a lot and am up to speed with my work. I was given feed back on showbie to resubmit a few tasks, such as re doing voice overs for "setting up a tripod" and "Using a DSR camera" which Ihave now completed.

Week 5: Final shoot and presentation (unit2: 1.2)

9/10/17

This week I have taken 40 images, 10 of each for each element/ line, texture, shape and colour. By me taking these 40 images it has helped me learn new skills. while me taking these images I have progressed in skills, I have thought more about the angles and the lighting. For example taking low shot angles and thinking about what sort of lighting I want to use. I used natural lighting to shoot some of my images. I have also got more knowledge on how to use the dsr cameras, using the camera lenses to force and zoom in on images. This is new to me as I never knew how to force on images before on the camera.

This week I have been using photo shop to help me edit my photographs which has helped me learn new skills, what I have been taught in another lesson on the basics on photo shop I applied into me editing my photos. I used the saturation and the brightening options to help me complete my tasks. I made contact sheets that I've never done before which did have some barriers when creating my contact sheets, I was confused on how to insert text when writing on my 4 contact sheets.

I presented my work on photo shop and also presents my work on a power point display.
my evidence is at the top of the page as it wouldn't let me add my photographs here.

To improve I need to finish my presentation on a power point document. All my knowledge from photo shop I will be applying in next weeks tasks. Overall I think I have learnt a lot more than I thought about using the photo shop and gathering information about each tool and knowing what one does to change everything and correct my work.

2/10/17

When we was set the task to create mind maps for each element that helped me to expand my ideas and knowledge for each individual element. This task helped me to develop my skills because it opened my mind up to more ideas within the four elements. Now I know how to use adobe spark better as I wasn't as confident a few weeks ago using it, now I find it a lot easier to use and work around it.

To complete this task I used power point to showcase these four mind maps in power points. I have used power point for years so I didn't find it hard to complete these task and also didn't have any barriers when completing this task. In a Wednesday lesson we was in the motion room and our task was to sketch out a room with plug sockets in and also list the health and safety of being inside them rooms.

•Show: How did you present your work outcomes? You must Include photos, print screen or video for evidence.

The improvements that I need to keep up with is to keep up with all tasks and stay on track. To stay in college until I am up to date with all my work so I dont fall behind. Also this week I am going to take pictures for my shoot next week.

25.09.17
We was shown in a lesson, how the lighting worked and taught how to stand and how to use the lighting. The pacific lights where box lights. Now i know how to stand and position a light box correctly in a safe environment. I have the knowledge on the safety rules with using lighting as it can be dangerous.

When using the DSR cameras I have now got more of an understanding for them and also learnt a lot of new skills while using. overall I have learnt the basics on how to use it. The way I completed the task was by going outside and taking a set of two images that I was going to use later to Photoshop. I did have some issues when it came to editing and using the Photoshop program as I haven't used it before. I found it difficult to find "brightness, saturation and colour changing" I had to search and find them to complete my task given. I am proud with the way my edits came out of the photos.
•
I presented my work on adobe spark

The thing that i need to improve on is finishing off some of my work. I need to include another video into my adobe spark page. What I have learnt overall is how to use the basics of the camera that we was using and also how to use Photoshop.

18.09.17

What I have learned over the course of a week is about formal elements which includes (line, shape, colour and texture) My understanding for these four elements are that I know what they mean when they are broken down. For example when it comes to line and photography when taking a photo of a long corridor or stairs they are examples of line because they are on going.
•

We was set the task to go outside and taking various photographs of examples of line, shape, colour and texture. I found a lot of images while in college. For example for texture I took pictures of bricks and the compared them to a image that I found myself. I did this for all of the elements. It wasn't a hard task as their was some many elements outside to taking photos of.

•Show; Reflect how you presented the photography work in the form of an Adobe Spark presentation which to included minimum of four final images alongside the photographer‘s work you replicated. Upload Adobe Spark link to padlet entry.
Once I gathered all my images together I sent my images from my phone to my email to get them onto my computer to upload to my adobe spark

Improve ; compare your final outcomes with the professional work. Identify what went well, what was successful and areas to improve.
