Volleyball is played on a 9 meter wide and 18 meter long field. The field is divided into two 9-meter fields with a net in the middle. The height of the upper band of the net from the ground is 2.43 meters for men and 2.24 meters for women.

On the courts on both sides of the net, there is a line three meters from the net (the three-metre line).

Volleyball is played in teams of 6 players. The game begins with a serve. If the opposing team is unable to serve, the point scored is called ace. Each team has to throw three cake balls into the opponent's court. The exception to this is the blocking state. The team that blocks the attack of the opposing player has three hits, excluding the block. The position in the figure is the starting line-up. If the receiving team wins the right to serve, its players change places clockwise. Accordingly, the player in position 2 goes into service (goes to position number 1). The arrows in the figure show the way of turning accordingly.


According to the starting position, the players are:

1 Setter: He is in charge of passing the passes to the spikers and making them dunk.

6 Libero: Defender. He wears a different jersey, cannot attack the balls beyond the upper edge of the net, cannot be used in any other position.

5 and 2 Spikes: It is the player who throws the ball to the opponent's court with a hit called a dunk.

4 Opposite Setter: It is the player who comes forward when the setter is serving, can attack from the front and back, and also helps the block.

3 Middle player: It is the player who attacks fast and not too high passes called bullet passes. At the same time, it helps the player on both sides of the block in the attacks of the opposing team.

Although volleyball is a game played with hands, it is not a mistake to throw the ball with any part of the body (chest, leg, knee) including the foot. However, if the hands are not synchronized while hitting the ball with both hands, this double hit is counted and the score is written to the opposite side by giving an error. Another form of error is the so-called ball handling. The main thing is to send the ball with a blow, if the ball lingers in the hand (carrying the ball) this is a mistake and leads to a loss of points.

If one or more of the players does not stand in line with the line-up rule while serving, there will be a line-up or rotation error and the point will be awarded to the opposing side. If the line is pressed while serving or attacking from the back position, the opponent will score. The lines defining the field are 5 cm wide and the line is considered to be included in the field, if the ball touches the line, it is considered to have fallen into the field. There are flexible rods called antennae on both sides of the net to show the field line. The team that hits the ball here is considered to have lost the point. If the ball bounces off a player's hand after hitting the ceiling, the other side wins the point. If the ball falls out of the hands of the blocking players, the other side wins the point.

Volleyball is played in sets of 25 points. The team that wins three sets wins the match. If the sets are 2 - 2 then the fifth set, called the decision set, is played. The decision set is 15 points. For a team to be considered to have won a set, they must finish the set 2 points ahead of their opponent (eg 25 - 23.) If the teams have reached the 24 - 24 position, the set is extended to 26. The set goes on like this until the difference is two points.

The coach of each team has the right to take a break twice in each set and to apply for the video challenge twice.
