5000BC

Untill around 5000 BC ice sheets in the north were melting. As this process was occurring it had a direct connection with the rise of sea level. The rise of the sea level at this time consumed coastal lands, forming islands, and forced Aboriginal groups inland. This move of Aboriginal groups inland possibly caused conflict between groups. In Arnhem Land Australia there are rock art drawings of battle scenes from about this time, this could be proof of the battles that may have went on between groups fighting over land and resorces.
