October 8, 2015

When we went on the Botanic Gardens field trip a lot of people were looking at this arch of vines and leaves. The sun light hit the arch in a really cool way so I wanted to focus on exaggerating the white light and the black shadows on the arch. I also wanted to take this on as impressionism. If I could go back, I would redo the sky portion because right now, I don't think it represents the clouds and the shadows really well. Other than that, I like this piece.

October 8, 2015

This is a pencil sketch of a flower I saw at the Botanic Gardens. I thought it was hard to draw the dimensions of the pedals, but I tried to capture the details on the pedals. I thought I did a decent job drawing the flower on paper as I looked at it in person. I would probably change how straight the pedals are in this drawing if I could go back, because I think curved and wavy pedals would have made it look more real.

October 8, 2015

This drawing is the one when we couldn't take our pencil off the paper, and we had to just let it flow. This was really difficult for me because I wanted to go back and put details in, but I couldn't take my hand off. It was quite fun challenging myself, because I have never down that before. if I could go back, I would probably spend more time on this drawing because I think it could have been more detailed, and I wish I would have added more of a difference between the dark and white light.

October 14, 2015

This project was really fun, especially working with a another student that has more experience. My favorite part about this collage, is the background. I think the forests and all of the foliage make the goose head stand out. I also really like how when you look far away at it, you see tiny details in the collage part. Shading the goose head was the most difficult part, but it all came together in the end.

October 26, 2015

This was one of my favorite projects, because I think the concept of creating separate legs, a body, and a head is really cool. The activities we did during class really helped for the preparation of doing a final piece. I like my piece a lot, especially the legs portion, because the perspective of the stem is from a really tiny bug or someone laying on the ground horizontal. i struggled with backgrounds in this project, and that is something I would go back and change.

September 4, 2015

I really enjoyed making this collage, and I've come to the conclusion I think I have a good eye for placing pictures and cutting them out in unique shapes. I wanted the center point in this piece to be in the middle where the door is. The theme that I am trying to get at it is that even when rain, wind, and fire come your way, there is always a window of opportunity to help guide you. I think if I could go back, I would add more detail and a drawing to give a more filling look.

Detailed Botanic Garden Drawing

December 15, 2015

I am most proud of this piece this semester because I think it looks pretty real and dimensional. I also really like that we had to use one or two colors to accentuate a certain spot in your piece. I chose to color the middle of the flowers green with orange bulbs, because the flower in real life has a very pretty pale green tone in the middle with yellowish and orange specks sticking out. I really focused on detail in this picture and I like my background. The background of my picture was blurry, so I decided to make it really big leaves to have the focal point be on the detailed flowers. Time management was a struggle for this piece but overall, I don't think I would change anything drastically.

December 17, 2015

This project was really cool, and I'm proud for what I have accomplished. It was really interesting looking through pictures of all of the time periods. My two favorites in my piece would have to be my surrealism drawing(sunflower) and my Eastern drawing(volcano/mountain). Looking online through the surrealism drawings made me open up my eyes more because looking at the drawings made me think of a deeper meaning and I thought that was so cool. The one thing I wish I would have done was draw the pop art box with marker, I think it would have captured that time period better, but other than that, I thought this was successful.

I thought I did a pretty good job of picking out a structure to draw. I struggled with the lengths and dimensions of the arm, because looking at the actual skeleton and trying to produce a drawing that looks almost like it is hard. The shadows and edges were the most difficult to draw because the skeleton was on a angle. Overall, this sketch was a good start.

November 11, 2015

This is my favorite sketch of the skeleton because I captured it from a unique perspective. I thought that including some parts and starting others would look cool, and It turned out be what I wanted. I really like the spine detail and how it curves a little. I struggled with making this look real, and I wish I would have added shading to it.

December 22, 2015

I got my inspiration when I looked up life and death drawing and paintings. It was really neat seeing the different ideas people had come up with. I focused mine on a hand and the wrist, and how the actual hand is a tree and the wrist and arm is the roots and DNA/ bones. This was successful for me because I thought i really captured both sides of life and death. I had the most difficulty with the DNA part, so I hope that is what it looks like. Overall, I really enjoyed this piece.
