Every year, everybody, at every minute I can hear this story no matter somebody telling me or just two other people talking about it while I just walk by. A long long time ago, there was a monster called Nian. This monster sleeps in a river and comes up to land at New-Year time. People have to run, or will die in the Nian monster's mouth. Nian will eat the sheep and pigs, and bring big damage to the villages. One day, a boy with his grandmother stayed at home, and the boy's grandmother can't move, and the boy wants to take care of her. Then an old woman came. The boy greeted her, then the old women ask for red papers, and for a knife and some pork. When Nian came, he's terrified when he sees the red, and when he hears the knife chopping the pork making big sounds (Which makes dumplings), he became even more scared. So the gods are the tourtise, the dragon, the white tiger, and the pheonex. So the tourtise wants to get power so he tricks the white tiger to fight with the dragon or something andthen kills the one that won. Then, the he go fights the pheonex but I forgot how but so he won. Cause the pheones is imortal so he takes the wings off the pheonex so theres only the tourtise left. The other human-like gods think this is bad so sends a snake to look over the tourtise.
