It was forbidden for a Warlock to be in a relationship with a shadowhunter so Annabel was taken away from Malcolm and eventually was killed by the hands of her own family. Jumping forward to 2012 in the book, the shadowhunters are faced with the problem of the same warlock (who is immortal) trying to raise Annabel from the dead so he can be with her again. To do this however, many deaths were required which was wrong. At the same time, Emma, the main character, kills Malcolm and he falls to the bottom of the ocean along with his lover he was trying to raise from the dead. She also tries to break things off with the person she cant be in love with. I chose Sing of the Times by lady midnight because its a very emotional song just like this book is. I am not sure why but whenever i hear this song it reminds me of the shadowhunter series(there are many similar books like this one that all part of the shadowhunter series). I think what it is is that the singer of this book sounds just like how I imagined one of the main characters would sound like. "Just stop your crying it'll be alright"-This line from the song relates to the book because a lot of the main characters have conflicts that make them sad and one of the main character, Julian comforts his younger sibling just like how this song sounds. "We never learn, we been here before/Why are we always stuck and running from The bullets?"
